Our Mission

It all started way back in 2011 when 'Sikh Seva Sangathan' started working from the premises of Gurudwara Sikh Sangat, Howrah. During the coronavirus pandemic the need of roping in youth volunteers to carry out the difficult job of feeding about 80-100 persons daily both indoor and outdoor was felt. Therefore, 'Humans Aid-India' was formed in May, 2020. The members of this organisation were to collect and distribute food to the needy both inside the Gurdwara who were there sent by the local administration of Howrah Police Commissionerate for home quarantine as well as poor people outside in various localities as well as on the pavements of main roads of Howrah. Morning tea and breakfast, lunch, evening tea with snacks and dinner for more than 48 days without a break. In the month of June 2020, I reached my superannuation and from 1st of July I became free to serve the mankind. The 'food for needy' project was a grand success. It was appreciated by the society the local administration as well as the Railways who had taken the trouble of providing cooked meals twice daily for approximately 80-100 heads free of cost through its agency named IRCTC. Now as I had plans of finally shifting to Amritsar. The idea of starting a proper NGO has cropped up and today, 06 Jan. 2021 I had named it 'U M I D', it stands for Ultra-Modern Institution for the Destitute. I have planned a new website as usual and the work on which started after lunch today. I was able to finish few necessary pages by 7:00 p.m.! I am feeling very happy and elevated and full of positive energy to face this challenge and I am hopeful that Waheguru will help and support me in achieving this new dream project. I need you all friends and well-wishers overwhelming support so that the destitute could be served and taken care of as far as possible. Thank you.
